The trailer for Netflix’s new series Legends has been released.

In the early 1990s, the British Customs and Excise Service was losing the fight against illegal drug trafficking. To turn the tide, a new operation was launched: undercover agents would infiltrate some of the country’s most notorious drug gangs. However, the men and women tasked with this duty were not trained spies.
They were a small group of amateurs, hailing from all corners of the United Kingdom, tasked with creating new identities for themselves and finding ways to survive through impulsive decisions. They compensated for their lack of education and resources through creativity and determination; they were also ready to embrace these new lives by sacrificing their old ones.
The upcoming series Legends, written and created by Neil Forsyth (The Gold, Guilt), tells the story of ordinary customs agents who are secretly recruited for this job. These agents must quickly adapt to the dangerous aspects of the work and their newly created identities. To prevent their identities from being revealed, they had to fully embrace their new identities, known as “Legends.”
“Your legend has to be a part of you. One wrong word, one wrong decision, and your career is over,” Don (Steve Coogan) says to a group of potential recruits in the trailer. Don is the head of operations, and his unsparing attitude towards the inherent risks of the business contradicts his fatherly instincts. When they begin their duties, the recruits under his command truly need his guidance.
In the trailer, the recruits learn that the task ahead of them is very challenging. They are warned: “This will be the greatest challenge of your life; you will face unimaginable levels of danger and risk.”
While these men and women were grappling with unimaginable risks, the general public could not even begin to imagine what was really going on.
“In the past, I wrote series based on well-known events. Then, you explain the little-known background of those events,” says Forsyth. “This series is unique because Legends’ work was almost completely unknown… There was a core team that did all this, and they did it almost entirely without public knowledge. ”
